The goal of the Information Centre is to provide information relating the activities of the Moscow 2012 bid to all interested parties.

On October 23, the Moscow Government officially formed the Moscow 2012 Bid Committee to compete for the Games. The Committee includes representatives of federal and city authorities, the Russian Olympic Committee and Russian athletes.

In May 2004, the International Olympic Committee was scheduled to determine which Applicant Cities Moscow, London, Paris, New York, Havana, Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Istanbul, and Leipzig - would move on to the next phase of the competition by becoming Candidate Cities. The chosen Candidate Cities, Moscow, Paris, Madrid, London and New York, will compete for the chance to host the 2012 Olympic Games. The voting will take place in Singapore in June 2005 at the 117th IOC session.
